Seminary Operating Expenses

Lutheran Theological Seminary in Novosibirsk, Russia was established by Concordia Theological Seminary in 1997 as part of the Russian Project. The aim of the project was to train Russian speaking pastors in Fort Wayne and build a Lutheran Seminary in Novosibirsk, Siberia.

The Seminary is now a strong independent institution fully capable of self-governance and staffed by a first-class indigenous faculty. It is no longer necessary for CTS to send professors from America or to oversee the administration. A private charitable foundation has fully funded the Seminary since 1997. These grants will end in five years.

The Seminary must abide by Russian laws. If the institution is closed, even temporarily, it is unlikely in today’s political environment that it could ever be reopened.

To continue daily seminary operations, we need to supplement the reduced financial support with $75,000 per year.
