SELC Seminary Conducts Theological Seminar

Our Theological Seminary in collaboration with the Parish of Saint Mary in Tomsk conducted the theological seminar over last weekend. Participants came from Siberia and Ural (Tomsk, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg). The program included lectures and discussions on the Bible, history and doctrine of the Lutheran Church, evangelism and catechesis in the Lutheran parishes.

The overall program was as follows:

  • Rev. Alexey Streltsov “Melanchthon and astrology.”
  • Rev. Pavel Khramov “Loneliness of Christ in the Gospel of Mark.”
  • Rev. Pavel Khramov “The feast of death and the feast of life in the 6th chapter of Mark.”
  • Rev. Sergey Glushkov “Introduction to Small Catechism.”
  • Rev. Sergey Glushkov “Biblical marathon. The Bible in two years.”

Seminars like this are very important for the people in the Church. The church members must have an opportunity to discuss doctrine and questions that have special relevance to their daily lives. One particular benefit of having special seminars and conferences in Siberia is that it enables the members of Siberian Church to overcome the vast Siberian distances and no longer feel isolated in their remote cities and towns. It is extremely important for the faithful to get together for “the mutual conversation and consolation of the brethren.”

Glory be to God that it happens. Our deepest gratitude goes to those who made this possible.
